In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. But Katniss has been close to dead and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
How did I not know about these books before recently! I read all 3 of them in 4 days... lots of late nights and prolonged breakfasts!! But the Hunger Games series is extremely captivating, I just couldn't put these books down.
Just based upon the excerpt, I would never have picked up The Hunger Games to read. But my sister-in-law said I had to read these, and I'm SO glad I did! These books are very well-written, unexpected, and all around good! The main characters are so well-developed, as are lots of the supporting characters.
I just saw the movie last weekend to experience the story again. The movie was very true to the first book - of course the character-development was much less in the movie, and many details were missing. But the movie was still good as well!
I would highly, highly recommend this series!
